Welcome from the Superintendent

As we settle into the 2026-27 school year, I am incredibly excited and honored to welcome our students, families, staff, and community back to Silver Falls School District.

 

We are proud to share that we have developed a draft of our new strategic plan. It took months to create, and aligns with the new accountability standards released in the spring by the Oregon Department of Education. We shared the draft with staff to gather their feedback, and we look forward to hearing from families and community members as well. As part of this work, we updated our tagline to "Together We Thrive." Our past tagline centered on students thriving, but we thought it was important to acknowledge the need for our staff and community to thrive as well. This important distinction creates the foundation for our meaningful work in the district, where our efforts ensure that we are ALL thriving together.

 

The district is also beginning a renewed focus on Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) this year, and we have enhanced our social and emotional learning curriculum to comply with state standards and requirements. We used the Student Investment Account to help move these systems forward and provide the right tools for staff to encourage positive behaviors and emotional growth. Several professional development opportunities for PBIS are planned, and we are excited to partner with NWPBIS and Wayfinder to prioritize student social and emotional well-being this year.

 

Thank you to our families and community for your continued support of our students, and to our staff for the impact you make for each student, every day. I look forward to the challenges and triumphs that lie ahead, and I am confident that together, we will make this year one of the best yet for Silver Falls School District. Together, we thrive.
