We’re writing today regarding a series of rumors that have cropped up this weekend around the new McGinnis Field Track. Specifically, we’ve heard this weekend that SFSD staff members or officials are restricting the use of the new track. We’ve also been made aware of a rumor that this restriction is at the request of an individual who donated the funds to allow the track to be built.
There is absolutely no truth behind these rumors. The McGinnis Field Track facility is truly a community facility, and outside of the restrictions on its use which exist during the school day or during school events, it is open for public use according to the posted guidelines. Furthermore, the donor who provided the bulk of the funds for the new track presented absolutely no restrictions on its use at any time.
