Good afternoon, Silver Falls Families.

We’re writing today to share our plans for next school year. We’ve heard your questions, and want to make sure we’re being fully transparent about our process and thinking.

Our plan next year is to offer a full 5 days per week of in-person instruction to all students. We base this plan on the significant number of adults in the US who have received the COVID-19 vaccine, as well as the science that shows schools can reopen without putting children at risk. We join with many other districts in agreeing that restrictions on schools will continue to be phased out or removed, as we have seen throughout this year. That said, it will very likely be the case that some sort of restrictions will still be in place at the beginning of next school year. These may include mandatory masks or other requirements. We will fully comply with these requirements so long as they are mandated.

Additionally, we plan to continue to offer an online option for interested students in grades 6-12. We don’t yet have complete details on this option, but will keep you informed as more information becomes available.

There remain many questions and issues to solve before we can successfully reopen for all students five days per week, but we are confident that we can resolve those concerns in the coming weeks and months. We pledge to keep you informed of any developments along the way.

Thank you for your support this year.
