Following a rigorous application process, Silver Falls School District (SFSD) announces the selection of Ms. Melissa Linder as the new Principal for Silver Crest School and Assistant Director of Teaching & Learning. Her first day will be July 1. Ms. Linder’s selection followed a process of community and staff input; a writing assessment; a case study analysis presentation; town hall sessions with community and staff members; and multiple interviews with senior district leadership.
“We are so excited to have Melissa Linder join our team in SFSD,” said district Superintendent Scott Drue. “She is an instructional leader of the highest order. Melissa has a proven leadership track record of adding value to those she serves.”
Ms. Linder served for 16 years in Seaside School District as a middle school Language Arts Teacher, then as Principal of Gearhart Elementary in Seaside. For the past 7 years, she has worked as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction for Astoria School District.
“I am thrilled to be able to join the Silver Crest students and staff and to be a part of a close-knit school community again,” Linder said. “I have missed being with students and can’t wait to contribute to the school and the district.”
Linder is the third new permanent administrator to join the district under the leadership of first-year Superintendent Scott Drue, following the hiring of Mr. Sione Thompson as the new principal for Silverton High School last month, and Ms. Mandy Pack as the new Principal of Robert Frost Elementary School last week. Silver Crest School serves students in grades K-8.
