As the district develops our Operational BluePrint for Reopening, and abides by the new restrictions and guidelines set forth by Governor Brown last week, the Silver Falls Special Services Department remains dedicated to educating all students in the district.

With all student learning operating in an online environment for at least the first quarter of the school-year, we understand that IEP and 504 teams will need to work closely together to develop  plans that continue to support individual student needs.  An online environment will provide us with challenging issues to creatively and collectively solve.  We recognize the uneasiness and uncertainty of the upcoming school year and how your student’s education may look and feel different.

We understand that each student has their own specific strengths and needs, and that as we get closer to the start of the 2020-21 school year some families may request to meet and discuss individual IEP and/or 504 plans.

The district is in the process of purchasing online special education curriculums that will support the learning of students and IEP teams in reviewing and developing routines and goals.  Special education teachers and staff will receive training on these curriculums prior to the start of school.

The Oregon Department of Education will be providing additional guidance regarding special education and 504 services in the next few weeks.  As that guidance is shared and made available to us, we will provide additional information to our community.

We value your input and ideas, and ask that you continue to contact us with your questions regarding special education and 504 services.  As additional questions and concerns arise, we will share them out for your review.
